What an achievement!

We have won one of only 30 coveted places at the National Gallery ‘Take One Picture’ school’s exhibition this Summer!

Last year’s Form 6 wire hand sculptures will be displayed in the Sunley Rooms running from 9th June – 11th Sept, admission is free.

Head of Art, Mrs Hankey said ‘We are incredibly proud of the pupils for the way they engaged with this project. The sculptures and drawings were extremely creative and the result of a lot of hard work and concentration. We can’t wait to see the work in The National Gallery, it really is something to celebrate!’

Pupils studied the painting ‘The Finding of Moses’ by Gentileschi and focused on the powerful gestures within the painting, transforming them into three-dimensional wire sculptures. Large shadow drawings from their sculptures were also created using torches and pens recognising that shadows are simply ‘an absence of light’. The works were submitted to the National Gallery at the end of the Trinity Term last year.

Great recognition of just how teachers with a passion for their subject, can engage children to create truly high standards of work. Well done everyone!
