Prep children who achieved a silver or gold in the SPSSA borough sports competition went on to attend the Southend Schools Super Sports event this week. In total, we had 9 competitors on the track and 10 on the field, a great achievement.

Well done to the following pupils:

2nd place in year 5 boys javelin (Deacon)
3rd place in year 3 girls javelin (Florence)
3rd place in year 5 girls javelin (Eloise)

Last week was so busy but being the Trinity term isn’t surprising!

Sports day came and went, quickly followed by our dance troupe attending a festival to showcase their well-practised routines – Miss Cook was very proud!

Our Year 5 gymnastics team then went to the SPSSA Borough Gymnastics Competition bringing home 5 golds and 1 silver!

Sportastic!

An amazing sports day, with perfect conditions! Sprint, long jump, javelin and a long-distance run were all in store for years 1-6.

The children really gave it their all and pushed themselves to do their best, with the support of all the parents, teachers and of course their fellow pupils. Thank you to all the previous St M’s pupils who came along to support too.

The teachers, parents and year 6 relay race was a great finale to the day.

Thank you to all the parents for supporting the event – results and more pictures will be published in the end-of-term newsletter.

The year 3/4 Tag Rugby team headed to Southend Rugby Club to take part in the Southend Borough tournament yesterday. The players fought hard in some tough games with many superb moments of skill and sportsmanship shown. During each game, they worked as a team challenging their opposition and scoring tries. The team finished second in their group to progress to the next round where they won the semi-finals to play in the 3rd / 4th team play-off. Although they battled hard, their tired legs just felt heavy from so many matches and they lost the final game to finish a respectable 4th place in the Borough. We are all very proud of them.

In the afternoon our year 5/6 B team and year 3/4 B team enjoyed a host of friendly games where they definitely shined.
