Year 3 pupils explored the features of recipes in their English lessons. They successfully identified these features and enthusiastically applied their knowledge by following a recipe to bake gingerbread shapes in our specialist cookery room. Afterwards, they wrote their own gingerbread recipes, demonstrating excellent recall of the baking process. This was a wonderful example of cross-curricular learning made enjoyable!

Outdoor learning and skills are a key part of the curriculum at St. Michael’s, with Prep children spending a day per term at the Othona outdoor centre. This week, Year 5 put their skills to the test, constructing water filters and learning about the importance of purifying rainwater for drinking.

Year 2 History came to life today! Pupils travelled back in time (to Mr Mobbs’ office!) to explore artefacts from Florence Nightingale’s era. A huge thank you to Mr Stafford (Harry and Florence’s dad) for generously sharing items from his incredible collection. These included uniform pieces, a sword, lances, spurs, and medals from the Siege of Sebastopol! The children had a fantastic opportunity to closely examine these artefacts, sketch them, and share their exciting observations.
