23 Prep pupils had a fantastic time at the Southend Borough Gymnastics Competition this week. The children worked hard to show precision and skill across all four areas: bars, beam, vault, and floor and collected 3 Golds, 17 Silvers and 3 Bronze medals. Iris also scored the highest mark in the competition overall.

Miss Fox was really proud of the standard of gymnastics performed by the pupils and how well they worked at the event.

The rain held off, and the children had a great sports day with many track and field activities taking place. The support that pupils gave each other, particularly for the field events made for a great atmosphere and showed the true spirit of St Michael’s.

The St Michael’s Ski team braved what can only be described as hideous weather conditions at the weekend to attend the ERSA Ski Competition, entering three teams and one lone racer. They all did a tremendous job: the boy’s team placed 4th, the girl’s team placed 6th, and the mixed team placed 7th. There were some serious skiers there, including county and GB standard, so our pupils did incredibly well.

Attendance at this event is only made possible with the support and dedication of two parents in particular, Mrs Smith and Mrs Manley who arrange all the logistics so our pupils can take part – we owe a great big thank you to them.

Our Year 6 Dodgeball Team did their best at yesterday’s SPSSA competition. Every team brought their A game so much so that all teams were neck and neck on points. The decisive vote was based on which teams retained the most team members in each game; it was that close!

Miss Fox was extremely proud of the 100% effort and teamwork the team brought to their games and although we didn’t win, we still made it to the Super 8’s in Essex which is a great achievement in itself.
