Our KS1 football team (pupils from Years 1 & 2) made it to the SPSSA finals on Friday. With fire in their tummies, the team performed well and showed great teamwork and passing skills only to be pipped to the post and placed fourth due to one too many draws. The future is still bright for this squad, so well done for all you have achieved thus far.

Our Year 1 & 2 gymnastics team had a great time at the SPSSA Borough Gymnastics Competition, with each gymnast scoring on the bar, vault, beam and floor. All of the team scored a silver or bronze award overall.
This is a great achievement for the pupils with areas to work on for next year. Miss Fox said, ‘I’m very proud of the standards of gymnastics across the school which improves yearly. The children should be very proud of how well they did today. I look forward to the Year 3-6 competition later in the year.’

It was GOLD for our year 5 & 6 Sports Hall athletics team today!! Representing Southend in the Essex finals at Garons after our success in the Borough event, the children worked hard giving their best jumps, throws and running at top speeds.
The PE department’s motto of “Teamwork makes the Dreamwork” was on full display. Miss Fox was aiming for a top 3 place as a birthday gift to Mrs Best who served 34 years as Head of PE and the team delivered, achieving first place and leading the event for the whole afternoon.
We are so proud of our small but mighty school. The children are tired but grinning from ear to ear. All that practice has really paid off, well done!
See you all for World Book Day tomorrow wearing either PJs accompanied by your favourite book or dressed as a book character.
